The WRRC was one of the many departments that showcased their research to legislators during the 2024 UH Mānoa Research Day at the Hawaiʻi State Capitol. The theme for this year’s research day was UH Mānoa’s Kuleana to Hawaiʻi and the World: Our Commitment to Excellence in Research. WRRC’s booth highlighted the Center’s tap-water quality testing and outreach efforts in Maui in the aftermath of the wildfires.

Maui-based WRRC water sampling specialists Julynn Iʻi and Kellie Cole spoke to legislators about their firsthand experience of being impacted by the fires and how they are making a difference in their communities through the water sampling program.
