Sayed M. Bateni
___________________________________________________________
I would like to conduct extensive research on crucial issues that will benefit Hawaii, such as forecasting floods, wildfires, and landslides.
Professor Sayed Bateni has been honored numerous times by the UH College of Engineering for his outstanding contributions to the research community. As a joint appointee of WRRC and CEE, the quality of his research has enabled him to secure large grants from a diverse group of organizations, including USDA, Hawaii State DOT, USGS, and FEMA and HI-EMA.
Sayed received the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship in 2020 to conduct water research in Qatar, one of the fastest warming areas in the world. In 2021, he was a member of the Qatar Foundation and NASA OASIS mission science team where his research focused on merging remotely sensed deep-layer soil moisture observations into data assimilation and machine learning approaches to estimate the groundwater in arid areas.
